We are located in Hernando, Mississippi,
about 15 miles south of Memphis.
God looks out for us just like a good shepherd looks out for his lost sheep. In our vulnerability and sinfulness, we consciously attempt to avoid God and dodge people around us. What will people think about me, is a question that lingers in our mind. We wish to change our past lives but often do not know how. God will enter in our broken lives if only we allow him to.
“The woman at the well” in the gospel this weekend, reflects our own lives of misery and unworthiness. In her shamefulness, the woman comes to draw water at noon, so that she can avoid meeting people, but there is Jesus waiting for her at the well. She is genuine and transparent in letting Jesus make inroads in her own personal life, and Jesus assures her the spring of living water which he himself is. When we are open to God’s grace, then our lives will change like that of the Samaritan woman.
Let us bring our true selves before the Lord Jesus and experience his love for us. The Samaritan woman simply empties her inner self, her past disordered life, and her vulnerability at Jesus’ feet and he in turn fills her with the inner peace and joy; and this can be our own experience at the sacrament of reconciliation. God bless you.
